As often as you can, include references to persons with mental illnesses and their issues in sermons about social justice, caring for the poor, discrimination and compassionate outreach to others.

When you are composing any kind of communication about mental illnesses for your congregation, be sure you use "people first language."   All too often, people mistakenly use words and phrases that may add to the painful stigma those with mental illnesses experience.
